Why Hailey Bieber Chose to Keep Her Pregnancy Private for First 6 Months

For Hailey Bieber, the initial rhode to parenthood was best enjoyed in private.
It’s partly why the 27-year-old and husband Justin Bieber chose to keep her pregnancy a secret from the rest of the world until Hailey was sixth months into her journey.
“In the beginning, it was super emotional for me,” she told W Magazine in an interview published July 23 of spending time with Justin amid her pregnancy. “Like, ‘I love this human so much. How can I possibly bring someone else into this?’ I’m trying to soak in these days of it being Justin and me, just the two of us.”
Plus, maintaining their family’s privacy was only made easier by the way Hailey’s pregnancy presented itself.
“I was honestly able to keep it quiet because I stayed small for a long time,” she added. “I didn’t have a belly, really, until I was six months pregnant, which was when I announced it. I was able to wear big jackets and stuff.”
However, keeping the news from the rest of the world eventually took its toll.
“I probably could have hid it until the end, but I didn’t enjoy the stress of not being able to enjoy my pregnancy outwardly,” Hailey reflected. “I felt like I was hiding this big secret, and it didn’t feel good. I wanted the freedom to go out and live my life.”
And in the months since announcing her pregnancy in May, Hailey has been doing just that—living her life and celebrating her journey to motherhood every step of the way.
A celebration which has included owning every part of pregnancy—including the less than savory ones. For instance, when an unusual craving hit, Hailey was quick to share it with the rest of the world.
"Currently my biggest craving," Hailey wrote in a May 15 Instagram Story, "egg salad on top of a pickle with hot sauce."
She added, in anticipation of fans’ reactions, “And no, you're not allowed to judge!!!"
But in addition to owning her cravings, the supermodel has also been serving up an amazing array of pregnancy fashion, never shying away from showing off her baby bump.
From skin-tight rompers, to sheer lace catsuits and crop tops with low-rise jeans, Hailey has been changing the bump game left and right. Keep reading to see some of her best pregnancy fashion moments so far.

The couple—who married in a September 2018 courthouse ceremony before tying the knot again a year later at a lavish wedding—shared a sweet kiss in their vacation photos in May 2024.

During their Japan trip, Hailey—clad in white crop top—and Justin visited artist Takashi Murakami‘s sculpture outside of the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto.
The Rhode Skin founder showed off her baby belly in a yellow baby tee, which matched perfectly with her knitted bucket hat.
Hailey donned a see-through top and bralette—as well as a statement necklace bearing her and Justin's last initials—during a night out in Los Angeles.
Hailey proved that maternity style can have an edge to it, rocking a cropped leather jacket with low-rise trousers.

Hailey kicked back in an oversized T-shirt and baseball cap during her pregnancy.
She donned a pink butterfly top and low-rise blue jeans in a series of Instagram photos shared in May 2024.
The Y2K-inspired top inspired Hailey to pose for an impromptu photo shoot.
In the snaps, Hailey cradled her baby bump as she looked toward the horizon.
Hailey wore a lacy Saint Laurent gown to renew her vows with Justin in Hawaii. The couple announced their pregnancy on May 9, sharing footage from the intimate ceremony.
